Waterproof QR labels that get water bottles home

A MyTags water bottle QR code label gives a lost bottle a way back — without printing your child's name for a stranger to read. A teacher or another parent scans the code, sends you a message, and your name, number and email stay hidden the whole time.

  • No name on the bottle
  • Free to start
  • Finder needs no app
  • Not a GPS tracker

A scan reaches you — no child's name printed on the bottle.

The problem

The bottle that never comes back

Ask any teacher and they will point you to the lost-property box: it is full of water bottles. A bottle leaves the classroom for the field, the bus or a friend's bag, and the same one turns up nameless the next week. Bought a new bottle this term already? You are not alone — it is one of the items schools lose most.

Name stickers wear off

A written-name sticker meets the dishwasher, a leaky lid and a thousand grips a term. The ink fades, the corner peels, and a nameless bottle has no way to find its owner.

A printed name exposes your child

A name written large on a bottle lets any adult near the gate or the playground call your child by name, as if they already know them. That is the exact thing most parents want to avoid.

Or you leave it blank

So many parents give up and leave the bottle unlabelled to stay private. Then an honestly found bottle sits in lost property with no way home — the worst of both worlds.

The fix

A durable QR label — reachable, not named

Put a small, waterproof QR label on the bottle. It carries no readable text at all — just the code. When a finder scans it, they see a simple page and a box to message you. You get an instant push and email alert, and can add WhatsApp, Slack or a webhook too. Every reply relays through MyTags, so your child's name and your own details never appear. Read how the privacy-first relay keeps you both hidden.

What the finder sees

  • That this is a lost bottle, plus any note you left — a class, a "please hand to the office"
  • A message box that reaches you the instant they send it
  • Nothing they need to install — a teacher's or parent's phone camera is enough

What stays hidden

  • Your child's name — nothing printed for a stranger to read aloud
  • Your phone number and your email address
  • Your name, your home address and the school your child attends

The same private label works on the lunchbox, the backpack and the school jumper too. See the full range of private kids tags.

How it works

Label a bottle in three steps

No hardware to order and no battery to charge. See the full walkthrough.

01

Create a digital tag

Make a digital QR tag in the app — free and live at once. Print it on a waterproof label, or add it to a weatherproof sticker from the shop.

02

Stick it on the bottle

Press it onto a flat spot on the bottle or under the lid. Any phone camera can open it — no app and no signup for the teacher or parent who finds it.

03

Get the message

When someone scans it, a push and email land instantly. Reply through MyTags to arrange the pick-up — your details and your child's name stay private throughout.

Questions

Water bottle labels, answered

Is a QR water bottle label dishwasher-safe?

The tag itself never wears out — it lives in your MyTags account, not on the sticker. Print it on a laminated or waterproof label made for the dishwasher, or add it to a weatherproof sticker from the shop. Even if a label fades over a term, the tag behind it stays live, and you can reprint it any time for free.

Does the label show my child's name?

No, and that is the point. A written name on a bottle tells any adult near the playground what to call your child. A MyTags water bottle QR code label carries only the code — no name, no school, no phone number. A finder scans it and messages you, and your child's name never appears to anyone.

Does the finder need an app to return the bottle?

No. Any phone camera opens the label in a browser. A teacher, another parent or the school office can scan it, type a message, and reach you in seconds — with no app to download and no account to create.

Is the water bottle label free?

A digital tag is free and live the moment you create it. Print it on a label at home and stick it on the bottle. If you want a tougher, weatherproof sticker built for lunchboxes and bottles, those are in the shop — but they are optional, not required.

How do I know when someone finds the bottle?

You get a push notification and an email the instant the label is scanned. You can also add WhatsApp, Slack or a webhook alert. Reply through MyTags to arrange the pick-up — your phone number and email stay private the whole time.

Is this a GPS tracker for my child's bottle?

No, and that is deliberate. A QR label is passive — no battery, no radio, nothing to charge or pair. It cannot report a location and cannot be used to track your child. It speaks only when a person chooses to scan it, which is far safer than a live tracker.
