Why it is safer
Safer than writing your number — and than a tracker
A number scrawled on a luggage strap or a note under a wiper is public forever, to everyone. A Bluetooth or GPS tracker adds a different problem — it can be used to follow the person carrying it. A passive QR tag avoids both.
Passive, no battery
A MyTags tag has no radio and no battery. It does nothing until a person points a camera at it. Nothing to charge, nothing to pair, nothing running in the background.
It cannot track you
Unlike a Bluetooth or GPS tracker, a QR tag reports no location and no movement. It cannot be planted to follow you home or stalk you — a real risk that trackers have created.
Nothing is broadcast
A tracker constantly announces itself to nearby phones. A QR code sits silent. No signal leaks, no device ID, no pinging — it speaks only when someone chooses to scan it.

Keeping your number private
Is my phone number shown when someone scans my tag?
No. Your phone number is never shown. A finder sees the item and a message box; when they write to you, the message routes through MyTags. Your number, email and name stay hidden in both directions.
How does a finder reach me without my phone number?
They scan the QR with any phone camera, which opens your tag's page in a browser. They type a message, and you get a push and email alert. You reply through MyTags — no numbers are ever exchanged.
Can I put a QR sticker on my car or bag without exposing my details?
Yes. That is the whole idea. The sticker carries only the code — no name, no number, no address. Anyone can reach you through it, but nobody can read your details off it.
Is a private QR tag safer than a Bluetooth tracker?
For safety, yes. A QR tag is passive: it has no battery, broadcasts no signal, and reports no location. It cannot be used to track or follow you, which is a known risk with Bluetooth and GPS trackers.
Does the finder need to install an app or sign up?
No. Any phone camera opens the tag in a browser. The finder installs nothing and creates no account to send you a message.
Can I share my number if I want to?
Yes. Contact stays private by default, but you choose what each tag shows. Add a note, a reward or a phone number for a single tag if you prefer — and remove it again at any time.
