Does a bike QR tag help me get a stolen bike back?
It is not a tracker, so it will not show you where your bike is. It helps at the moment a person and your bike meet again — a good samaritan who finds it dumped, a shop asked to service it, or a wary buyer checking a used bike can scan the tag and message you. Many honest recoveries happen this way, not by GPS.
Is a bike QR tag a replacement for my lock?
No, and we will never claim it is. A tag cannot stop a theft — a good lock does that. Treat the tag as the layer that works after a lock is beaten, or when the bike is simply lost, dumped or misplaced. Use a solid lock and a tag together.
Will a thief just peel the QR sticker off my bike?
A determined thief can remove almost anything, including a GPS unit they find and rip out. The tag still helps in the honest cases that make up most returns. You can also place a second, hidden tag inside a frame bag, under the saddle or beneath bar tape as a quiet backup.
Does the finder need an app to scan my bike tag?
No. Any phone camera opens the tag in a browser — no app to install and no account to create. The finder or buyer just types a message, and you get a push and email alert straight away.
Can a used-bike buyer check the tag before paying?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest uses. A buyer scans the tag, messages the registered owner, and confirms the bike is not stolen before any money changes hands. It makes an honest sale easier to trust and a stolen sale much harder to close.
Is my phone number shown when someone scans the tag?
